Spittin' Honey, Not Hate

With just one click or scroll on social media you can be trapped in the spiral of a hater's rampage. Just by viewing the most innocent of photos, and deciding to scroll down, you can look up from your screen feeling discouraged and/pissed off. I simply do not understand why it is necessary to speak or type words with the intent of hurting another human being. That is why I feel that it is my purpose to spread goodness. I feel there is a need to look at life from a new perspective; a perspective that encourages joy, hope and generosity. Sometimes I wish I could just look at some folks and say "don't be such a jerk!" and a switch would flip. they would miraculously realize that being kind is just better. *sigh*

But I also realize that the negativity we see coming from others we throw at ourselves, as well. I know I have filled my own mind with thoughts like:

"You're not that smart."

"What do you have to offer?"

"Just focus on one thing."

"You're never going to pull this off."

Why do I do that? I have talked myself out of so many situations in my life I have lost count. But I am learning that although it is hard work at times, I have to live my life in such a way that I am shining a light of hope. That is not to say I won't have any bad days (cause I have had my share) or have days when I just want to cuss everyone out. I just have to try and keep trying to keep things in perspective, and lean into a positive lifestyle. I have to hold myself accountable. It's not just the internet trolls that spit hate and not honey.
